How important is the working with the latest technologies, to you?

  When going for a new job/role, is working with the latest and greatest technologies high up on your list of priorities?

  i.e. would you take a lower salary in a company where you get to work with SQL 2014, FusionIO are used all over the place and you have influence to bring in new technologies, vs a higher salary in a company utilizing SQL 2005/2008/R2 where the push for new tech is not prioritized so much?

  For me it is important - especially as a consultant I need to stay on top of new technologies - but it is not everything.

  I'm not going to take a pay reduction just because I could work with SQL 2014 (there is not that much new for BI anyway :-)).

  I would be dissapointed though if I could not work with at least SQL 2008R2.

  (I would already be frustrated if I had to miss those windowing functions from SQL 2012, to be honest)
