Replication b/w Novell eDirectory and SQL Server.

  • Hello Experts,

I have a requirement to downloading the data from Novell eDirectory to SQL Server 2008 database on daily basis for some bussiness needs.

I can see many articles for downloading data between Active Directory and SQL Server using Linked Server, but there is no relevant articles for eDirectory.

Can we use linked server to connect eDirectory (or) is there anyother way to do this ?

Researching for long time for setting up replication b/w them, so far no luck.

I really appreciate If anybody can help me..Thanks.

    Regards,

    Amar

  • Does it have to be Replication or can you just use SSIS to grab the data and move it into SQL that way?

  • Googling the phrase "Export Novell eDirectory data to SQL Server 2008" gets me some links back to Microsoft, but none that specifically reference SQL Server. This link about ForeFront Identity Manager is the closest I can find at the moment. Maybe it has something relevant that will get you closer to your ideal solution?

  • Hi Braindie,

FIM uses SQL Server for its primary data store, after reading about FIM understand that its used to integrate various data sources. Not sure I can use FIM for integrating one data source, Whereas my need only one data source (eDirectory) needs to sync with SQL Server.

Anyway I will check more about FIM and lets see if its suit to my requirement or not, I keep you post.

    Thanks for the link.

    Regards,

    Amar
