declare @XML as xml

set @XML = '<?xml version=''1.0'' encoding=''UTF-8''?><root available-locales="en_GB" default-locale="en_GB"><Title language-id="en_GB">Cookies</Title></root>'

select @XML.value('(root/Title)[1]', 'varchar(50)')
