SQL 2008 cluster does not failover to another node

  • Hi guys,

I have this issue when I installed a SQL 2008 cluster instance on the Windows 2012 OS. I have successfully installed the SQL 2012 cluster instances on the server and it fails over successful but the SQL 2008 instance does not failover to the secondary node.

I get the following error in the system error logs:

Cluster resource 'SQL Server (<instance name>)' of type 'SQL Server' in clustered role 'SQL Server (<instance name>)' failed.

Based on the failure policies for the resource and role, the cluster service may try to bring the resource online on this node or move the group to another node of the cluster and then restart it. Check the resource and group state using Failover Cluster Manager or the Get-ClusterResource Windows PowerShell cmdlet.

    Can anyone please assist!.

    Regards

    IC

  • What happens when you try and do a manual failover on the SQL Server 2008 instance?

  • We are doing a manul failover. Its ok...the problem was sorted. The server was rebooted and that basically fixed the issue.
