idera sqlsafe trying to acess a share as NT authority/system - failing

I am trying to restore a .safe file over a network share - and in ssms i get the message Connecting to back service sucessfull then i get a message that access is denied to the file share.

The SQLSafe service is running under a domain user that definitely has permissions to connect to the share

I used process monitor to see whats going on - and it seems that its trying to connect to the share as "NT Authority\System" which is a local account

any help please
