| I am using Red-Gate Backup tool 5.3 to take backup of the database in SQL Server 2005. Now I want to restore these databases in 2012. Is there any way I can restore these databases in 2012 without upgrading my RED-Gate software.

Some 3rd party tools allow you to restore to a server that does not have a license. The license is just required for making the backup. I also remember that some tools will convert their backup into a SQL native backup file so you can use native SQL for the restore. Sorry I don't know the specifics. Call RedGate & ask them ?
