Can some one clarify.

why we can and cannot install with localsystem and switch to a domain account later.

You may as well install it to run with the "right" account to begin with - but there shouldnt be anything preventing you from changing it (using configuration manager) later.

Just remember to check your SPN's if you run it on a regular domain user account that cant change the AD object.
