SSIS SQL Server 2012

  • We are using SQL server 2008 SSIS, currently we have configuration files for all our packages.

We are not using SQL server 2012 SSIS, but I would like to know if someone has used it, and does it still use configuration files for variables and connection strings?

If not, what does it use?

    THanks

  • Hi, SSIS 2012 has two deployment models: Package deployment model and Project deployment model.

If you use package dep. model, you can continue to use configuration files just like you'd use with SSIS 2008 and previuos version. The drawback is, you'll not be able to use several new and improved features that come in 2012 like the SSIS Catalog database and logging.

If you use project deployment model, you can't use configuration files. You've to plan on a full fledged migration.
