BACKUP failed to complete the command maintenance plan

Hi, Guys
i schedule the backup using maintenance plan.

Error is: 3041, severity: 16, state: 1
Error message is:
BACKUP failed to complete the command BACKUP DATABASE 'database_name' WITH DIFFERENTIAL

i check the error log the same error is also given in the error log file.
please give hints how to diagnose and resolved the error.

1.backup taken to local storage
2.SQL Maintenance plan
3.SQL Server 2008 R2
4.version: 10.50.4000

What message is in the history for the maintenance plan (right click, history)?

Have you run a full backup at any time?
Differential backups will only run if you've done a full backup, as they only back up changes made since the last full backup.

No,once a week full backup is executing.
