What is the recommended block size of operating system on dss systems?

Assuming you mean the allocation unit size defined when you format a Windows drive then it will depend on the workload but 64 KB is usually a good place to start.

Use SQLIO and test with your workload and underlying disk subsystem to find the optimal config.
