hi i am trying to move my cubes from on drive to another (2005).

i have stopped the analysis service and am trying to copy the cubes over, a lock on a sbmp.tmp files is preventing me from doing the copy. what are these files and how can i get round this issue?

You could do a backup and restore the .abf on your new drive.
