Good Day,
we need to archive old data from a live database to the archive files in the same database as the users need to interrogate the archive data quite regularly . We asked the vendor about a dedicated archive database, but he mentioned that this would complicate the system as it is . Any ideas ?

What about setting up an 'archive' disk array and partitioning the table(s) with the data to be archived on the 'archive' disk array?
