I don't know that I ever had a conference high. It's usually more like conference fatigue. Although good information can come from conferences, I have found over my career that conferences tend to be sales pitches and dog-and-pony shows. I have yet to attend a SQL event. They may be completely different.

I think they are different, you get to meet some of the people on twitter and blogs that you respect in the community. At SQL Saturday you are learning a lot of stuff as well as in your user groups and code camps. I cannot say about Rally or Summit, because I have not been priviledged enough to go yet.

WOW, it has been so long (4+ years) since I've been allowed to go to any conference, or attend any training, that I'd forgotten about that "conference high" you speak of.
