Error Running Script: sp_vupgrade_replication(1)

  • When applying SP3 to SQL2K I got the following error:

    "Error Running Script: vp_vupgrade_replication(1)"

I have checked the sqlsp.log file which states that the installation failed but does not give any other details about the error.

Checking the productversion now shows 8.00.760 and productlevel is SP3.

Does this mean the service pack was applied. Has anyone else encountered this error?

  • Had any luck with this? I'd guess the answer is sorta, you've upgraded the binaries but need to get the repl objects updated. If in doubt, call MS support. Bad sp is not good.

  • One of the databases had been restored from a backup taken from a different server where it had been distributed. The development server I was service packing is not configured for replication. I guess this confused the scripts in that they were trying to modify objects that did not exist.

I took the suspect database offline and reapplied the service pack with no problems.
