Even if a person does as Gail suggests and answers the QOD the next day after then answer is published, and assuming that every questions is worth 2 points (which they all aren't), that's about 250 weekdays per year * 2 points per question = 500 points. That's a lot of work to try to beat the system, with a disproportionately small return.

RE: Points or Posts

Make the points visible somewhere else (front page) and change the formula so that contributing scripts or articles also counts (probably more than qotd answers and forum posts)

RE: Points or Posts

Ya forums posts is the best for the forums. Both would be nice, but I would put this much lower on my list.

RE: Points or Posts

In the forums, posts only. Generally, but not always, high post count shows someone who spends time answering questions, hence contributing to the site. It's not difficult to get the QotD score high, if you always answer the question of yesterday. ;)

Points or Posts

It's an interesting idea to have points on the site for users. On the front page, your 30 day totals can get you ranked highly, something not possible with the overall totals if you're new to the site. Right now the formula isPoints = # posts + (QOD correct answers * QOD points)Some people have complained they like to see posts only. The front page point box has the "show more" link which will show you your breakdown. We may add points to other sections later, but for now the question is do you want to see "Posts" in the forums?
