It's easy to install and does not require anything to be installed on the monitored server instances.Spotlight is more for monitoring of backups, jobs, disk, cpu, memory. Also easy to install and does not require anything installed on the monitored servers.We ended up with both Spotlight and Ignite.Regarding Foglight: My personal recommendation: Don't go there. The web GUI is sluggish, you need a master degree to install. Monitoring stops at least once a month. I found that SQL Sentry gave me:- An executable client, eliminating the need for a web server- A polling approach instead of having to install a monitor application on the monitored servers- The ability to drill down to what statements were running at a point in time- Integration with a great query plan tool plus a view similar to Oracle's explain plan- A monitor for SSAS as well as SQL ServerI believe that the SQL Sentry and Red Gate tools are both excellent.We chose SQL Sentry.
