Looking forward to seeing the rest. I do have a problem though, with the publication steps. You state that the next 3 screens are for setting up the filter, but you do not go into filters. Will this also be covered later?

RE: Stairway to SQL Server Replication: STEP 1 - Introduction to SQL Server Replication

This article is very easy to follow, I have one "small" problem though. I have to problems setting up my server (which I'm testing using just that one server for the distributor, publisher and subscriber). However, I get an error when I first try running the subscription, the error that I get is "The process could not execute 'sp_replcmds' on servername" I'm not really sure what is the problem. Can you redirect me in the right way to solve this? or should I post my question in one of the forums?thank you.

RE: Stairway to SQL Server Replication: STEP 1 - Introduction to SQL Server Replication

Hi Sebastian, It's nice article. For your information, I started my carreer in DBA very recently, though I worked in other technical skillset that too because of my interese in the database. And I started to learn the concept of Replication and found that your articles is very information and easy to understand for beginners too. Thanks a lot.Regards,Komathi S

RE: Stairway to SQL Server Replication: STEP 1 - Introduction to SQL Server Replication

Great article Sebastian. One that I am highly interested in. Can I ask what you prerequisites are there which make a database a good candidate for merge replication across different sites over a geographical difference? Is it just an issue of bandwidth? Are there other requirements such as certain schema modifications, identity column being required, or other structural requirements? What would stop a database from being a candidate for replication?thanks.

Stairway to SQL Server Replication: STEP 1 - Introduction to SQL Server Replication

Comments posted to this topic are about the item <A HREF="/articles/Stairway+Series/72274/">Stairway to SQL Server Replication: STEP 1 - Introduction to SQL Server Replication</A>
