However if we deploy to the Report sever it takes longer (30 seconds+ to run). I have done a profile, captured the SQL exec statments run (5 stored procs) and they take a total of under second to run for all of them together in management studio. Now the datasource is in the US - so is the report server. I am in the UK - so in theory the report server should be quicker for the datasource in the same country. Now here is something i found very odd. If i cache the report on the report server - it doesnt speed up the rendering of the report. However if i then generate the report as a PDF - it takes 2-3 seconds to get the PDF.There is no paging (all on one interactive page) involved. There are a few basic sums (as there are 7 pie charts).Any ideas what to look at next?Dan

SSRS 2008r2 not able to deploy a report though all other reports in solution work. rsaccessdenied

I have a solution with 13 reports. 11 reports deploy fine. 2 of them do not. From looking through the execution log table I found that an execution log record that is normally written wasn't. I have attached a screenshot highlighting the record that was missing a duplicate that day as well as a 0 byte count. I also looked through the SSRS log files (Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles) and they look identical to previous days when I search by report name as well as the SubscriptionID for the scheduled run time. When I rescheduled the subscription to run it executed without a problem. I would like to see if anyone has any advanced troubleshooting techniques that I can employ prior to calling in a ticket with Microsoft. My client is really coming down on me to come up with an explanation for these random report failures and at this point all I can say is "I don't know".Any help, suggestions or comments are appreciated. Thanks

Error "The maximum number of concurrent connections has exceeded a limit" when using data driven subscription to email

Hi,My set up is: SQL Server 2008 R1 32bit.What i am trying to do is set up a data driven subscription service that will automatically email approx 2000 students an individualised copy of their exam timetable (I work at a college). (I'm actually trying to use Data driven subscriptions to send out lots of different types of reports automatically to email addresses, these include confirmation of enrollment reports, timetable reports and a whole manner of different reports to our students. We have around 5000 students in total ... So i guess that would be the maximum number that we would be emailing.Data driven subscription services seems to do this extremely well, except after about the first 100 emails it sends it stops sending and all i get is the error from the SMTP server"The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x800ccc67. The server response was 421 4.3.2 The maximum number of concurrent connections has exceeded a limit, closing transmission channel".Unfortunately the SMTP server is out of my control, and I've had a look around on topics and they all suggest that the maximum number of concurrent connections should be set higher to the max number of recipients ..... however this isn't really an option as I don't have control over this server and settings. My question is this, is there anything that can be set in SSRS to limit the number of concurrent connections its making to the email server? Can it be set to send just a few emails at a time?? It doesn't matter that this would take a while to get through them all, it would be fine if it took hours or even days to send as at the moment its just falling over because its trying to send all at once.Any help will be very much appreciated

Two SSRS servers, different behaviors...

I have two identical SSRS 2008 servers, which are behaving differently when users attempt to access SSRS. Here's an example of what I need to do. I need to create 2 folders for departmental reports. Each department should only have access to their own report folder and associated reports. Each department will have admin users who will create and publish reports to the appropriate report folder. The tricky part is... I would like to grant access for those admin users to create, modify, and publish, but not delete. I do not what the admin users to delete or overwrite the report.I think I have the majority of permissions figured out but I do not know how to handle the item-level permissions such as "delete". I am okay with the user deleting a report if I can track it. So if a user comes to me and says "someone deleted my report"... I want to be able to audit this action.I would appreciate any advice/help!Mike

Invisible Report???

Hi All,I have a slight problem and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice or maybe a link to a similar issue. I rebuilt my test environment last week and everything went great, I thought I had it all figured out and went off to enjoy my weekend (as you do) :-D however, yesterday I was going over my test version of our customer site and found the one kink in the system and I have no idea where to start  The site allows customers to view their data and all but one report are working perfectly. When I run the site locally on the test server in IE it works great, but when I try to view it on my PC the report in question flashes up the loading box and then disappears to leave me with a blank page. I know its not a styles problem or something simple like an overlapping div, or an IE issue, and because I'm not getting an error I don't know what to try. I've gone over my indexes and used SSMS to connect to the database from my machine and run the query for the report and it all works fine  Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've listed some specs below:Kind Regards,CraigSpecs:Windows Server 2008 R2SQL Server 2008 R2Report Viewer 10.0Internet Explorer 9

Get SSRS Report Server dsn details programmatically

Hi,I need to get the name of the Report Server dsn details for a given SSRS instance programmatically.I'm aware that I can get this by going into the SSRS Configuration Manager GUI.I'm also aware that this information is written to the RSReportServer.config file, but it is encrypted.I've seen RSConfig.exe, but it appears that while this will set the DSN information, it can't retrieve that info.Is there any way to retrieve the dsn details from the RSReportServer file, or from anywhere else? The reason that I need this is that in our environment for testing purposes, we regularly change the database that SSRS is using. We therefore need to know what database is being used at a given time.Thank you for your helpSteve

Initialise SSRS on SQL 2008 from backup taken from SSRS on SQL 2005

Hi all,Here's the scenarioProduction SSRS is on SQL 2005 SP3.DR SSRS is on SQL 2008I've got a backup from the Production SSRS and want to use it on the DR box. When I point the SSRS instance on DR to a restore of the Production backups I getthe version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid"The found version is c.0.8.54. The new ASPX version is 4.0 and the new SSRS is 2008 r2. all the code is the same However some font colours and indentations of text are not rendered correctly in the web form app. The strange thing is everything looks fine when I view the reports using the report manager web tool, but when the reports are called from ASPX pages the title font colour remains black instead of the blue specified in the rdl file (see grabs below).any ideas would really help, Thanks,Dthis 1st link shows the grab of the incorrect format when the report is called from a aspx form:https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B6rNefdd5YAIOVJ1eGc0bl9kQ2s/edit?usp=sharingand the 2nd link shows the grab of the same report is rendered from report manager https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B6rNefdd5YAIazN4b0NueEcwbG8/edit?usp=sharing

Integrating to SharePoint 2010 - blank page!!

Hi,I am trying to integrate an ssrs2008 with sharepoint 2010. I did all steps like:- change SSRS to Integrated mode- join SSRS server to sharepoint farm- install ssrs add-in in the sharepoint server- Install WFE in ssrs serverand stock at the level I want to add ssrs server in the sharepoint central managment. When I click the SSRS url it asks for the windows credential which is a good thing but when I enter the windows login and password it will not accept that and asking again and again for the windows login and after 4 - 5 times I'll face a blank page. I checked the log and it's says permission error!! As I am sure the windows login is OK and I can connect to other sharepoint websites with the same windows login what is missing here? I reckon the problem should be in SSRS server!!!I should say when I again change SSRS back to the native mode it works fine! Any idea? Many thanks,Amir

Understanding Error Messages in ReportServerService Log

I have recently taken over reporting services for my organization so now I'm getting contacted whenever there are issues. Our Java web application uses the SSRS web services to access and render reports. We are regularly getting Internal Server Errors in the web application when rendering report parameters and reports. I'm not seeing errors in the ReportServerHTTP log but I am seeing errors like this:[quote]library!e38!01/07/2013-17:12:15:: Call to GetReportParametersAction([path to report]).rshost!818!01/07/2013-17:12:16:: e ERROR: ReadCallback(): failed to read in read callback.rshost!818!01/07/2013-17:12:16:: e ERROR: Failed with win32 error 0x0026, pipeline=0x00000000006DFE10.[/quote]My Binoogle skills have failed me on this one as I can't seem to find any information as to what this error means. Any tips on what it is, where to find out what is, and how to fix it will be much appreciated. Thanks

Changing output to csv

HiMy report is outputting as UTIF-8 but the bank is complaining about that. They say to use DOS, by which I assume they mean csv. I can see that I should be able to modify the url of a report to over-ride the global config settings by using '&rc:OutputFormat = csv'. But where/how do I do that?I am using Report Builder, not BIDS. Is it possible to do that there? Thanks in advance,

Report Builder Usage

Hey all,One element of SSRS i have never used is report builder. I understand report builder works much better with SSAS.I have a request for a dashboard, but there are a lot of filters - making it an unpractical request. We are currently looking to the need for each filter at the moment. But it has led me to a question. If i built an SSAS cube for this - with filters as dimensions. Then built the dashboard using Report builder. I am guessing they could then drag the measures into the filter area to change the dataset? (so they just choose the filters they want?)Am i on the correct lines here? Also is it possible to do this without giving the end users access to save the RDL`s to the server. So basically we give them the dashboard without filters and they then can add filters but not save. Thanks for any advice.Dan

Double Subscription Runs

We have a report in Report Manager, with a subscription. As my DWH is depending on a lot of other systems the jobs to process the data for the reports do not finish on the exact same time. However I would like to avoid to schedule the expiration of the cache with a time buffer to be sure the data is ready of the report.Instead I would prefer to trigger the expiration through the Agent-Job that is creating the data. It nows best, when its ready ;-)Is there a way to expire the cache/force to refresh through an SQL statement/or a procedure call?Mitch

Log for erratic subscription delivery

Hi All, I have a SSRS subscription that runs daily to deliver an Excel spreadsheet by email.According to the report manager Subscriptions page, it always seems to have executed successfully and on time. However, the email might turn up at any time of the day or sometimes not at all. Please could you advise where I might look for an activity log(file) that might give me some clue what's going on?ThanksPaul J

Migrate SSRS reports from SQL 2005 [Enterprise Edition-SP2] to SQL 2008 [Enterprise Edition-SP1].

I am trying to migrate SSRS reports from SQL 2005 [Enterprise Edition-SP2] to SQL 2008 [Enterprise Edition-SP1].[Note: This SQL 2008 already got report server.
