Thanks so much Darwin for explaining how to do this. Using your methodology I scripted this in two flavors. Even on very large databases (>1TB) it will complete in just a handful of seconds. Very nice article, good thinking there. This idea should be suggested to Microsoft as part of the Maintenance plan for application databases backup plan (with size as a criteria, my assumption this option is not there presently in the maintenance plan).
