Then add the account as Admin in ReportServerDB, ReportServerTempDB, and the DataSource DB. This will let you login to Report manager but your reports will not run because it will error out.Go back to control panel then to Admin tool then local security then to local policies, then User Rights Assignment scroll down to Allow Logon locally double click it and then Add that account to the list of accounts. This will let you see the Reports but login is still required. Now the last step to remove the login prompt open IE go to tools options and then security then click local intranet, then sites then click Automatically detect intranet network, then Advanced and then add the Report Manager url in there and the login prompt will go away. I had to do this because I tried the option posted by SSRS employee and my SSRS config file did not include what the person said to remove. I run VS2008 Team Suites which is he Team Foundation Server Main Development Tool. So print out the above and get to work and Goodluck.

RE: Report builder sql server 2005 does not start

If it is asking you for an account it is both good and bad, good because I can help you fix it, bad because it took me about half to one day to fix each errror with the login page. So I will write it up and post it because I am also running XP but not SQL Server Standard. Now to be clear this is for report manager not the builder because I have no problem with that.

RE: Report builder sql server 2005 does not start

mine is windows XP and sql server standard edition.i cant get to http:\\localhost\Reportsyesterday i was finally able to get to it and i could deploy my reports. but today my report builder would not start. it was asking me for some credentials. so i thought the report builder must have been corrupted and tried to uninstall everything and reinstalled everything afresh. i cldnt get to do the default instance anymore because it says its still present on teh system. so i used named instance.now my question is hopw do i browse to get to report manager using urlplease helpsirila

RE: Report builder sql server 2005 does not start

I don't know what to tell you mine runs even without report manager but I have not created reports models or datasource.
