If you use the SQL Server Configuration Manager to set the service account it assigns it appropriate permissions without using local administrator. I am able to configure my standalone servers without any issues. However on one of a test cluster it is giving me pain:I get following error after I gave neccessary permissions on cluster node, and remove the account from local administrator group. Once the account is added back to admin group SQLServer service comes online without any problem. I compared registry settings for cluster resource as mentioned in one of the thread and they remain same in both the cases.
