You know that the biggest inventions almost all started with something been wrong... Quality is good, but quality should not block creativity, nor trial and error. I appreciate the feedback. My goal of the QOD was to get people to look into the SQL Server 2005/Vista/Office 2007 Compatibility Topic. Mission Accomplished in my eyes.To those of you who left a scathing comment before the technical issue with the Answer Key was fixed:
Steve Jones:Anyone wishing to complain about quality or how easy it is to write a question is urged to submit their own. http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Contributions/Home
To those who have given constructive feedback or given a solution to those experiencing issues with SQL Server 2005 and Vista/Office 2007, thanks for your input and sharing your troubleshooting advice.Best Regards,

RE: SQL Server 2005, Windows Vista and Office 2007 Compatibility

Thanks Steve. Note: SP2 has not been released yet, it's only beta and Microsoft recommends not to install it in production machines. The major issue with SQL 2005 is that it doesn't inherit credentials from Windows, as a result, any application attempting to access the db engine will have to run as administrator or the Authenticated users group will have to manually be added to to the SQL logins. Manager Studio requires administrator's privileges or to manually add user accounts to sysadmin group. SP2 should be the correct answer i think.

RE: SQL Server 2005, Windows Vista and Office 2007 Compatibility

I live this forum but QoD makes me crazy too often...

RE: SQL Server 2005, Windows Vista and Office 2007 Compatibility

SP2 or higher is the corect answer (just try to use datamining functionallity in Excel without SP2 or higher it will fail)So or the question is wrong but the anwer to this question is sp2 or higher for sureGreetings Niels Naglé

RE: SQL Server 2005, Windows Vista and Office 2007 Compatibility

As I see it, what most people are answering, and what the explanation says is correct, are the same, but that a mistake has been made in the configuration of the QOTD app (so that an incorrect answer is the one flagged as the right one). Now we've highlighted this, can I PLEASE request that we don't do the same as with the "Order By" question and submit 11 pages of "I answered this and it seems to be right, but I've been told it's wrong so can I have my point back please".

RE: SQL Server 2005, Windows Vista and Office 2007 Compatibility

Correct answer: SQL Server 2005 RTM Explanation: SQL Server Service Pack 2 or greater is needed to be fully compatible with Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007.
