transaction log backup

  • hello experts,

i took full backup of a database backup size is 22 gb

than i took differential backup , size is 100 mb than i took Transaction log backup, size is 10 mb.

want to know i took thease backup contineuously one by one, than why differential and transaction log backups having this much size.

becouse i guess transactions might not be of that much size in between backups

    jst wanna knw the reason

    thank you

  • A Differential backup contains all the changes made to the database since the last full backup.

A Transaction log backup contains all the changes made since last full/diff/t-log backup.

A Transaction log backup contains all the changes made since last full/diff/t-log backup.

A transaction log backup contains all the changes made since the last transaction log backup. The only time that a transaction log backup contains the transactions back to a full/diff is when that's the very first transaction log backup after the log chain was broken and reestablished.
