SQLSentry on Clustered Servers

  • We are using SQLSentry for performance data collection. However, we have ran into a snag and can't seem to find an answer.

We are using SQL Server 2008 on Windows 2003 Enterprise.

    Question:

CLUSTER IP is different than SQL IP

When using Performance Monitor, I cannot connect to the SQL IP. When trying to collect SQL Data, I cant use the Cluster IP. SQL Sentry only allows one connection. I am not sure what I need to do to make SQLSentry use a single name which has access to Performance data (Perfmon) and SQL Server data at the same time.

    Any ideas?

  • Instead of using IP, do you have the option of using the virtual server name that was created for the SQL Server instance?

  • Thanks for your response Brian.

For SQLSentry, we are using the Virtual SQL Name for SQL Server Cluster instance. However, there lies the problem. The Virtual SQL Name is unable to see or use WMI (Perfmon) objects.
