    If you mean how to change SQL Server from Windows authentication only to Mixed Mode (where it does both SQL Server and Windows authentication), see Books Online:

    I know it's a link to SQL Server 2008 Books Online, but it works for SQL Server 2005 as well. You will need to restart your SQL Server for the change to take effect.

    Or do you mean how an application connects to SQL Server?
