Is it possible to combine federation with mirroring?
Combining clustering with federation is easy because when the cluster swaps nodes the cluster name stays constant but with mirroring you have two physically different servers.
I would think you could do something with linked servers and the client-side redirect abilities in the sql native client so that it would automatically redirect to the new principal on failover.
