Backup Configuration sql server 2000

  • Hi, any one give me suggestion

we have one production database, this database is used for web application and connected to more then 23 client & different place not in same loaction. so daily data growth 2GB now database size 180GB. right now one full backup every day at 10PM, this backup takes 2hrs 30min. but there is no transaction log backup.

As per my suggestion i want to backup configure this server, Daily one Full backup at 22:00 Hrs. to take backup of Transaction log every 1hrs. to take full backup of system database master, msdb and model daily at 22:00 Hrs, so this backup configuration to make one single Job, and TL log backup another job.

Please tell me ,your suggestion above backup configuration...

Before going to backup configuration, i want check the log size. so give me tips, how to reduce the Log size or truncate the log?

  • Depending on the business need and how much data you are willing to lose 1 hour T-Log backups a bit sparse, I would consider doing T-Log backups more frequently like every 15 minutes.

this would also allow the logs to be truncated on backup which will help manage their size.
