Hi all, I hope this is the correct forum for this topic, one of my users approached me today with a DTS problem. Some how it seems a password was placed on one of his DTS packages. He has no idea what the password is nor who password protected the package (this user has a large number of DTS packages and has never password protected any of them). He can execute the package but he cannot edit it. Is it possible to remove the password protection and how would one go about removing the password? He does not have a script to recreate the package and would have to write it over from scratch. I looked in the help files but it only tells how to put a password in place, not how to remove a forgotten password. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No way to Figure out the password or CRACk it. If you however have the DTSRUn command with the pasword in the job, then it be a CRACk.. Sorry..couldnt be much help..

To elaborate on Mani's reply, if you have a DTSRUN command, such as in a job or batch file, you may find the password after the /M argument (if the DTSRUN is encrypted, use the method described in this thread to decrypt it: http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic421023-146-1.aspx).
If you don't have a DTSRUN, I'm afraid you're out of luck.
