Which is faster - restore across network vs copy then restore?

  All:

  I am trying to determine which would be faster:

  A) Restore a 50 GB .bak file across the network

  or

  B) Copy the 50 GB. bak file across the network and then restore the .bak file once it is local to the database server

  For option B I have the following times - 30 minutes to copy and 20 minutes to restore locally. So that is 50 minutes for option B above.

  I know I can test this myself but does anyone have metrics of their own, best practice standards, etc?
