Database Monitoring System

  • hello,

Not sure where to go but this is the best place to start 🙂 Thanks for all the replys... and know your time is much appreciated.

I have approx 3000 databases ...150+ SQL Servers (version 7 to 2k5 with 2200+databases), 500 Oracle databases(NT and UNIX), 16 Informix Servers. This is a slight overview 🙂

So my question is..Does anyone use a GOOD monitoring tool that would be able to work in this type of environment? And looking for the monitoring tool to monitor from shen wervices are up or down ..all the way to the age of backups...sending notifications if needed. Basically looking for something that will have all the beels and whistles and some if needed 🙂

Any suggestions or comments will be greatly appreciated

ps..if ya wondering the company i am with is currently getting rid of the tool we are using now.o well..it is what it is... Thanks again

  • That is a big number of database servers. If you would like to focus at auditing activities. iMperva may be a candidate.

  • For monitoring databases - Try SQL Stripes. It's very robust and provides easy multiple-servers monitoring.

  • No need to add any more to this thread as (Microsoft Tool)SCOM was the chosen tool for this environment since such a variation in sql versions and the ability to not have a add-on for each new or old one... Anyways thanks for the input.
