SQL 2005 Developer version software

  • Hi folks

I am new to the world of SQL and to this forum. What I am trying to do is purchase an SQL 2005 Developer license and obtain the software.

The Microsoft "Buy it here" web site only caters for the US, where can Australians obtain it from on the web or locally?

    Regards

  • I tried to buy one a while ago, but not successfully, (I am in Sydney) seems only 64bit version of SQL2005 Developer Edition is available to be purchased here in Australia.

But it's included in MSDN subscription, I got one from the company.

Not sure if there is other way obtaining it.

    Good luck.

  • Thanks for the response, I will check out the MSDN avenue.

  • If you are looking at MSDN, also take a look at TechNet. A TechNet Direct subscription is cheaper than MSDN, and give you access to all the MS server software plus Office and a few other things. The main thing missing from TechNet that I would like is VS, but you can get the Express editions of VS for free.

At home I run multiple W2003 EE systems, all from my TechNet subscription. I also have a Vista Ultimate partition running Office Ultimate. On my 64-bit 4 GB 4-core box Vista seems to perform OK, almost as good as XP on my 32-bit 1.5 GB 1-core box...
