Doesn't look like Taskpad is coming back

  • I was kinda hoping MS would bring back the old sql 2000 taskpad, but I don't see it in November CTP. Moreover, I don't even see the SQL 2005 like Summary for local reports.

I can still see reports per database, same as in sql 2005.

  • Google 'Taskpad view custom report' - there are a few to choose from. Download what you want and put it in your My Documents\SQL Server Management Studio\Custom Reports folder. Then run SSMS, right-click on a database and select Custom Report - your Taskpad view should show up. After you have run it for the first time it gets added to the right-click menu automatically.

  • Thank you:)

I take it the Custom reports menu appears only after installing SP2 on you SSMS, since I don't have it now?

  • Yes, Custom Reports are cool, but you do need SP2.
