    Yes, you definitely need to read the question thoroughly.  And any question that teaches people that they need to read things thoroughly before committing oneself to a course of action based on what was read must be a very good question. 
    I didn't read thoroughly enough: just saw the required output and thought "oh, that's matrix"; didn't notice how the output had to be the produced.  Ouch!   Definitely a  good question!
