I am trying to re-install SQL server 2014 (or 2012) on a windows 7 machine. When the initial checks are done the machine stops at the error: This version is not compatible with a later installed version. For more information, see the compatibility information at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=160850.
I have tried to search for help on this and I did find some, but unfortunately none of it works.
I have checked all registry entries and removed any that are related to the SQL install from before.
There is a '2' directory in the temp folder.
Virtual machine software is removed.
The error comes up with a 2014 install and a 2012 install.
(en_sql_server_2014_developer_edition_with_service_pack_1_x64_dvd_6668542.iso)
Anyone have any other suggestions?
