i am trying to convert xlsx to xls using DTS script task,but because the server hasn't got excel installed its throwing an error..Would it be ok to load MS compatibility pack on the server, or is there a better way to covert the files using DTS.
I presume you mean SSIS rather than DTS.
Can't you just change your original process to save in xls format? Or both (one xls and one xlsx)?
If you haven't even tried to resolve your issue, please don't expect the hard-working volunteers here to waste their time providing links to answers which you could easily have found yourself.
