"SQL Server does not exist or access denied" SSIS OLAP processing task error

  • Hi,

I have some jobs set up on a job server which are to execute 3 SSIS packages that, among other things, copy data from FoxPro tables to SQL Server tables. 2 of these packages execute some OLAP tasks which process OLAP databases that utilize the data in the SQL Server tables. However, on occasion, these OLAP tasks fail and one of the error messages that tends to appear in the log file is: “SQL Server does not exist or access denied”.

I understand the default instance of SSAS uses TCP/IP port 2383, and this port must be unblocked in the firewall to allow access. I had set the port to 2383 and added the rule name "Analysis Services" to the firewall along with setting the localport to 2383 etc. but the package still fails when the OLAP task tries to execute.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks!
