Forms Authentication SSRS 2016

  • I have followed every set of instructions I can find to set up Form Authentication for SSRS 2016. None of the instructions are specific to 2016 so I am sure I am missing something. The issue I am having is getting to the Reports Manager site, I can log in with forms authentication and get to the Web Services site but any attempt to get to report manager gives me a HTTP 500 error. I guess I have 2 questions, first does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be wrong to prevent me from getting to the report manager and my second question would be, are there any better ways to make SSRS available to non active directory users(customer specific reports).

    Thanks in advance

Look at the accepted answer. We were able to get it working but then had issues with the report builder and being able to connect to upload reports. It was on a test system so we scrapped it and went ahead and implemented the custom authentication in 2012.

    I hope that helps.
