I have a list of about 100 RDL files in my D Drive. I need to extract the contents of the RDL files into an excel file with columns giving me details about the report such as Report Name, Report Type, Source (Stored Procedure/SELECT statements), Parameter Names, the connection manager used and any metadata that may prove to be useful.
If I can do this Excel VBA or VB.NET would be the best option however I would like any suggestions from the experts on the forum.
Can we retrieve the same data from the report server directly? however the only problem in accessing the Report Server would be to have Admin access on the database, which I don't think I can get but the DBA/MSBI Admin is ready to provide me with a RDL file dump..
Any help would be appreciated. 🙂
