The House of Daniel, by Harry Turtledove

If you're a baseball fan, you might find it a fun read. He keeps the Fantasy / SF bits in the background mostly (vampires, werewolves, zombies, magic? All real.) It's written in a first-person point-of-view of a minor league player with a travelling team.
