    Nice article.

However, we need to stop saying security is a pain. Doing so only perpetuates the myth. Security is not difficult, and it is not painful. We just need to develop proper habits.

We lock our car when we go out, we lock our house at night, we do all kinds of things to remain secure that are simply part of every day life. You never hear people say it is a pain to lock their car.

We do hear complaints about metal detectors all over the place, maybe because they cause long lines.

The difference is how they are applied. We can apply security where it isn't noticeable, and do far better than we do today. Why don't we? People still have the wrong mind set, frequently perpetuated by technical folks saying things like it is painful.

so refreshing to hear that. Doing anything can be considered a pain, including the simplest of tasks on a bad day, but the pain of not doing so is more painful. Insurance works on this basis. I am still very much a positive contributor to the insurance money pool (be it car, house, health or life) but I am not much of a risk taker. This is same for so many things. Technical debt is another example.
