Otherwise we would have a dev/QA (or both separate, preferably) with specs to match prod, and you would have the horsepower and bandwidth to provide us with regular, scrubbed back-ups of prod so we could code and test against real world data, both in terms of quantity and general look and feel.

    Those silly enough to ask for it should have it even less so!!!

    I agree as well. Then again, on the other hand, one could make it very painful for them every time they connect to prod. 😀
