Print Query Analyzer SQL in Colour?

  • Dear Forum,

I'd love to print out my SQL code in colour to browse through more easily.

Can this be done in QA or EM or Word?

    Thanks, Bill

  • As far as I know this cannot be done.  The color is a return to screen feature only.  I don't know of a 3rd party tool either that will accomplish this.

  • Something like Apex SQLEdit would provide this:

    http://www.apexsql.com/sql_tools_edit.htm

Also, tools like TextPad and UltraEdit have add-on syntax definition files to syntax highlight various source code types:

    http://www.textpad.com/add-ons/synn2t.html

    http://www.ultraedit.com/downloads/additional.html

  • You really can't beat EditPad for versatility (http://www.jgsoft.com). It has built-in libraries for every conceivable flavor of SQL (including T-SQL), and also handles any other kind of text editor task you could imagine.

I ran the free version for 2 years before happily ponying up the $30 or $40 for the paid version.

  • PW,

I also use Textpad and it DOES highlight on screen but doesn't PRINT color.

    Andy,

I will give EditPad a try for printing in Color.  Thanks for the tip.....

  • I use UtraEdit32 (not just for this) and it prints in colour - and you can set the colours easily enough. It has language templates for lotsa things.

    Good for huge files.

The systems fine with no users loggged in. Can we keep it that way ?br>

  • I use gvim, as I am used to work on Unix system. gvim is free, and it prints in color ...

  • Another text editor with syntax highlighting, which also prints in color is EditPlus http://www.editplus.com
