    Software Engineer

    Would you like a varied role within an interesting business area? We currently have an opportunity available for a Software Engineer to join us at our site in Cirencester.

    As a Software Engineer, you will be working within a smaller part of Maritime Services, which has been set up for developing software, in particular, for the Royal Navy.

    This is a great development opportunity, which would suit somebody looking to advance their career in this industry.

    Your main responsibilities as a Software Engineer:

    •Software Engineering to maintain and enhance UMMS (Unit Managed Maintenance System), RCM (Reliability Centred Maintenance) and feeds to external systems

    •Liaising with the Deployed Systems Development and Test Teams

    •Liaising with Customer support authorities

    •Corrective code changes in live and development code bases

    •Issuing data correction updates

    •Supporting Package delivery to the UMMS Support Team Lead

    •Conducting additional requirements as directed by the Services Manager

    Your skills and qualifications as Software Engineer:

    •Evidence of strong SQL Server skills is essential

    •Experience of Microsoft Development tools, primarily C# or VB.NET is essential

    •A levels/degree or equivalent in engineering, scientific, computing or numerate disciplines are preferred, or experience to offset

    •Experience in the following is desirable:

    •ASP.NET

    •Oracle

    •Java

    •Knowledge of object orientation in theory and practice

    •WCF

    •WPF

    •Entity Framework

    •.NET 4.0
