auto changes to the package

  • Hi,

developed SSIS package on 2008. When one of my team members is opening it remotely using his ID from his laptop and right click, edit then closing it without saving, a message appears - changes are done from outside program and program is failing. Is this common? I have witnessed this issue occurring.

my question is - why is it behaving like this? when nothing was saved or deployed?how do I prevent this from happening?

    Craig.

  • If your colleague executes the package from SSDT or BIDS, it will automatically save before executing.

Also, if you are using source control, it might be causing a check-out when the package is opened. I wouldn't think a source control check-out alone would cause a package to be arbitrarily saved to disk, but it's worth checking into.
