Size of nvarchar(max)??

  • It was a 50-50 guess as to whether "size" was supposed to mean storage size or number of characters. I guessed wrong 🙁

    Surprise that (at the time of writing) the number of people making the same wrong guess is outnumbered by those going for 2MB!

    I didn't think there was a 50-50 guess, because "size" and "length" are quite different concepts. It's quite normal to say that an nchar string has twice teh size of a char string of the same length. But I can see that it's an easy trap to fall into.

    I'm not just surprised amazed that more than 1 person in 6 has answered 2MB, I'm amazed.
