SQL Server 2005 64 bit Edition upgrade from Standard edition to Enterprise endition

  • Hi,

I am doing SQL Server 2005 64 bit edition upgrade from Standard edition to Enterprise edition.

But I'm getting below error while upgrade.

TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup

    ------------------------------

Your upgrade is blocked. For more information about upgrade support, see the "Version and Edition Upgrades" and "Hardware and Software Requirements" topics in SQL Server 2005 Setup Help or SQL Server 2005 Books Online.

    Build version check:

Your upgrade is blocked because the existing component is a later version than the version you are trying to upgrade to. To modify an existing SQL Server component, go to Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel, select the component you would like to modify, and then click Change/Remove.

    Edition check:

Your upgrade is blocked because of edition upgrade rules. For more information about edition upgrades, see the Version and Edition Upgrades topic in SQL Server 2005 Setup Help or SQL Server 2005 Books Online.

    For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?LinkID=20476&ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=9.00.1399.06&EvtSrc=setup.rll&EvtID=29543&EvtType=sqlca%5cupgradeproduct.cpp%40ValidateUpgrade%40sqls%3a%3aUpgradeProduct%3a%3aCanUpgrade%40x7367

I spent lot of hours to find the resolution but did not work any.

I tried this solution posted on many website but still it is showing same error message.

    1.Run Add/Remove Programs

2.Run 'Change' for just the SQL Server 2005 component.

3.Select Common Components > Workstation Components(Remove Client tools).

4.Click "Remove Microsoft SQL Server" .

Could you guys help me out.

  • Can you upload the detail.txt file from the setup bootstrap log?
