Using a Visio-type diagram as a template for text box links(Action) to other reports

  • I have built a series of reports. Some of them can be opened and used to drill through to others. There are multiple ways in and multiple navigation scenarios.

Now I've built a "Hub" report as a starting point. This report just has text boxes on it with names of reports and Actions set to open the reports that can be linked directly to.

I thought it would be cool to arrange these textboxes like a simple visio diagram so that the navigation of these reports could be spelled out for the user. Unfortunately, ssrs has lines, but no arrows, so the direction of the links are unclear, it's also not a great medium for drawing a diagram.

I've tried using a visio diagram as a background and arranging the action-enabled textboxes over the top, but then when I run it, everything is no longer matched up.

Does anyone have an idea of how I can accomplish this goal? I'm using ssrs through sharepoint, if that matters.

  • I have begun the annoying process of creating the diagram in visio then snipping the arrows and importing them to ssrs reports and rebuilding the diagram there.

please save me with a better solution.
