If I am setting up a standard linked server between two SQL 2008 servers is there any reason why I would, or would not, use the MSSQL option over the "Other Data Source Option" i.e Microsoft OLEDB Provider SQL Server".
The MSSQL option is slightly easier to set up but is it faster, more reliable etc???
Some documentation I have seen on creating a Linked Server uses one, some uses the other.
