We are an innovation company and we pride ourselves with disrupting industries and forward thinking.
Our challenges:
1. Find the easiest way to connect to and combine data from multiple sources that we currently use (i.e. SQL server, Google Analytics, Salesforce, Marketo, Zuora, Marketo, Desk, Live Person, Paypal, AuthorizeNet, Digium, ..etc…)
2. Find a easy, flexible, reporting tool that allows us to make sense of the data and create visual reports of any type and display them anywhere (executive dashboards, wallboards through the office, etc…)
3. Find a solution that allows us to own the data (to be able to query it with external tools using standard SQL) and present a single source of truth (so we can make sure we are always pulling reports in the same way and with the same rules for all reports)
The problem is that everything out there seems either too heavy and clunky and the enterprise solutions take an army to run and are extremely expensive. The basic stuff doesn't do anything.
What’s the smartest way to solve our reporting challenges in the shortest time?
Any feedback would be awesome!
This project has been a nightmare and I’m convinced there is a smarter way out there… Just need to find it!

On the Microsoft platform:
HDInsight for raw bulk storage, SSIS for connecting most anything to most anything else, SQL Server / SSAS for building the single version of truth database, and then SSRS for reporting and dashboards.
