We've found what we call 'retired folks wine, being pretty inexpensively priced. Yellow Tail wine imports of Australia, mostly cab, merlot, and shiraz. Latest liking is a malbec from Argentina. It's a bit more pricey, but still reasonable. We're not hoity-toity connoisseurs by any standard, just enjoy without trying to impress.

The Argentine Malbec sounds like a good bet. Currently (when I'm in the UK) I can get a decent French Malbec which is better value, but anywhere else (except of course France) the Argentine is better value. But here (it's another 12 days before I have to go back to UK) there are better Spanish wines even than the Argentine Malbec and because this bit of Spain is running on 7% IGIC instead of 20% VAT they are pretty cheap.
